Just As I Am, Tyson highlights the resiliency of Black women, by sharing the story and accomplishments of not only her own dreams, but the lives of her mother, sister, aunts, peers, and friends. She shows the way that these women around her cut their way through the harshness of life to create their own futures in spite of the roadblocks placed in our way due to domestic violence, racism, and sexism. She speaks of the progress the world has made and the immeasurable trades made for progress — the loss of great leaders, family, and friends.
